Citizen Led Food Policy

Since 2013, Fundación Alternativas works alongside local governments to create multidisciplinary and multistakeholder working groups known as Municipal Food Security Committees. Members work together to develop legislative and investment proposals aimed at renovating local food systems to ensure these are efficient and equitable.

The Municipal Food Security Committees are carrying out the country´s first urban dialogues on food security. Members are also developing renown expertise on food policy and strategy. Proposals are valued and taken into account by local decision makers and used in decision making processes. To date, Fundación Alternativas has put together committees in La Paz, Sucre and Tarija.
